Clara and The Nutcracker Auditions
Clara and The Nutcracker is the magical story of a young girls dream coming to life. It is a Ballet that has been performed for many generations and a true celebration of Classical Ballet. We will be holding three shows at the Lincoln Center here in Fort Collins, and it is a wonderful way for your dancers to be a part of a beautiful performance and just another opportunity to shine on stage!
Audition Time: Saturday, September 13th–All dancers must attend the Saturday audition, even if you are already in a ballet class. Those who don’t attend will not be casted in the Nutcracker. Dancers must be enrolled in at least a Level 1 Ballet. All roles in this ballet are dancing parts and will be extremely fun to perform so we hope to see you all there!

All dancers must audition for a part in The Nutcracker. Everyone will be cast in at least 1 role. Those who are available to rehearse on Saturdays may be cast in more roles. You have until Friday, September 26th to accept or decline your casting. A cast list will be posted in the lobby of the studio the week of September 22nd that a parent must initial to accept a part.
Who can audition?: Boys and girls ages 5+. Girls must be enrolled in Ballet 1-9 here at CDA. Boys do not need to be enrolled because their rehearsals will be on Saturday afternoons!
Rehearsals will be held in their ballet classes, and on Saturday afternoons (if cast for extra roles).

Nutcracker Fee: $100 per student. The fee covers all rehearsals and costume rentals, and will be due
Friday, October 10th. CDA takes pride in putting on a spectacular performance by bringing in guest artists, renting backdrops, scenery, and costumes from professional companies, and your contributions are what make this all possible. Nutcracker costumes are rented from CDA for the performance, so dancers may not take costumes home at any time. The fee will also include a long sleeve Nutcracker shirt. Please indicate the size you would like for your dancer on the audition form attached.
Show dates: Friday, December 19th at 7:00PM, and Saturday, December 20th at 2:00PM and 7:00PM
Extra Mandatory Rehearsal dates:
1) Saturday, December 13th: In Studio Dress rehearsal 1:00-6:00 PM (Dancers will be given a
specific time for their dress rehearsal
2) Thursday, December 18th: Dress rehearsal at Lincoln Center 4:00-9:00PM
**Students are required to be at all Dress Rehearsals and are obligated to all three performances.
**Rehearsals will start Monday, September 29th in class and will be every Saturday from October 4th on
Students who miss more than two rehearsals will automatically be taken out of the performance and the
Performance Fee will not be refunded.
The Nutcracker Audition Information
Please come to the audition prepared. When auditioning, we recommend you:
– Arrive 10-15 minutes early to warm up and stretch
– Wear dance attire (for girls: black leotard and pink tights, hair in a bun. For boys: shorts, t-shirt, black dance shoes, or socks)
– Smile and have fun!
Please bring the attached form with you to the audition.
